The most iconic and historical Milan landmarks neatly packed in a half day photographic tour: improve your skills with a professional photographer!

All about the Classic Milan photo tour.

If you are on a tight schedule and you want to photograph Milan’s classics, do it with us!

This photo tour is planned to make good use of one of the largest pedestrian areas in Europe.

With some smart detours and good planning you will shoot many attractions and  new perspectives in half a day: Castello Sforzesco, built by the Sforza House in 15th century, Piazza MercantiLa ScalaGalleria Meravigli, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele (aka ‘Milan’s living room’) with its infamous bull ritual and a lot more.

We will not miss Piazza del Duomo with its cathedral (3rd largest in the world), where we will look for the best angles to capture its beautiful gothic architecture and the shadows casted by the colonnades facing the square.

Depending on weather conditions and tourists crowds, we have the option of climbing to the rooftop of the Duomo for stunning views of the city and of the spires up close.

As an alternative rest assured that we’ll throw in some hidden corners and surprise items: old narrow streets, skulls and bones, giant fingers and much more!

General infos:

Walking distance: approx 4 km/2,5 mi

Required time: 4 hours (best in the afternoon)

Recommended gear:

A camera with a general purpose zoom lens is enough for this tour but you will find very useful a wide-angle and a telephoto lens. This area is very crowded so we do not recommend bringing a large tripod. A gorillapod or light tripod will be handy. ND filters for blurring people and fountains are a smart idea. Any wide to normal fast prime lens will be a lot of fun for street photography.

Photo editing option:

If you want to make the most out of your photography, you can book one hour or more with our professional photographers for a session of photo review and light editing after your photo tour.
We will sit together in front of a laptop, discussing your work and retouching your best shots with Photoshop Lightroom.

We are a team of working professional photographers. Our field of expertise encompasses many areas in the photography business. We shoot on assignment and personal projects. We shoot editorials, portraits, events, still life, travel, architecture and basically anything from small assignments to commercials. Strangely enough none of us specializes on food photography. It must be because we love to eat it. Some of us are photography teachers, journalists and certified experts.

Please ask and we will try to satisfy your request. Since we are often traveling or busy on assignments we don’t know who of us is going to be available on your required dates.

Our photo tour groups are very small. Most often it’s going to be you and your party (if there is one). Sometimes we will merge small groups if their schedule is tight. We never build groups with more than 6 people + photographer per group. We like to have a personal approach and to spend time with you and your photography. If your party is a larger group please enquire and we will arrange more than one photographer.

Of course he/she may come with us but he/she will need to book and pay as a participant. Please remember that Milan offers plenty to do for non photographers.

Yes. All of our photographers speak Italian and English. Some of us speak other languages as well. Our photo tours are held in english.

The camera you are familiar with, with lenses and accessories. A range of lenses from wide-angle to telephoto. We will probably never use flash but it would be a good idea to bring it along. If you own a bridge or a compact camera it is fine as long as you can manually control it. Bring a light backpack because there will be some walking. You will need comfortable shoes and clothing, water, warm clothes in the winter and sunscreen and a hat in the summer. For night photo tours a tripod is essential. Please remember to check that your camera is properly working before the beginning of the photo tour, recharge your batteries (bring a spare) and bring as many cards as possibile.

Regarding cameras we welcome smartphones as well, in fact you can choose any of our photo tours and let us know you will be shooting with your smartphone.

If it rains we will try to rework our schedule together. If you have time constraints or we cannot allocate another slot we will do the photo tour all the same. Milan is a fascinating city in the rain too; it is different but nonetheless enchanting. If you’re lucky enough to be in Milan during a snowfall, you’re going to love it!

Yes it is. As long as you don’t leave your belongings unattended there will be no problems. Our photo tours go through busy and central areas which are well protected by law enforcement. During night photo tours we will be walking in central and well lit areas. We never had a problem.

Transportation is on feet, so be prepared to walk some. Comfortable shoes are a must but we will take it easy, so that everyone will have time to work on subjects. You must be reasonably fit to walk for a few hours. There’s going to be breaks for a cappuccino in the winter or an ice cream in the summer. Or both.
